Project Overview
In early 2024, our customer Palletower, a leading manufacturer and supplier of global product storage, logistics, and distribution equipment, sought to enhance their operations by installing EV charging infrastructure at their commercial premises in Sale.
With a busy industrial site and a strong brand presence, they required five EV charging point sockets along with a system to manage and operate the chargers. Additionally, they wanted the chargers to be visibly branded with their company and the EV charging spaces to be clearly marked.
Our Solution
To meet Palletower’s needs, we recommended and installed 2 double and 1 single Rolec Securicharge Intelligent EV charging units. These chargers were customised with smart client branding to align with Palletower’s strong brand identity. For efficient management and operation, we proposed the Monta operating platform , which offers seamless control and monitoring of the charging units.
Given the importance of clear demarcation, we collaborated with Shawfield Line Marking Specialists Ltd to carry out precise line painting, ensuring that the EV charging spaces were distinctly marked and easily identifiable. This approach not only enhanced the site’s functionality but also reinforced the association of the chargers with Palletower.
The Results
The installation was completed in just three days, with line painting following on the fourth day. However, the project came with its unique challenges due to the site’s busy industrial environment. The exposed location of the chargers necessitated additional security measures, while the installation process itself required careful planning and coordination to minimise disruption.
Russell Palmer, Director at Palletower, expressed his satisfaction with the project, stating, “Just wanted to say how good the lads were with the install; super tidy, respectful of the property, very thorough etc. – they are a real credit to your business! Many thanks for a great job.”
The first challenge involved accessing the wall where the cables needed to be run, which was obstructed by floor-to-ceiling storage. Working closely with the client, we managed to temporarily relocate the storage, allowing us to proceed with the installation. The second challenge was the intricate power supply work, which required temporarily shutting down power to the entire building to install a dedicated distribution board for the EV chargers (DBEV). This complex task was handled with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring a smooth and safe installation process.
